Intramural Program Policies

Under 6 Program This program meets in a clinic environment for eight sessions. Each session consists of warm-up,skill-building games/instruction, and a short scrimmage with another team during one hour. The Club Registrar and Under 6 Age Group Coordinator form mixed gender teams of up to eight players (4 & 5 year olds) each season, based on gender,age, and experience. The scrimmage (without goalies) is 3 vs. 3 with one coach from each team permitted on the field for instruction during play. Players must be 4 years old, by July 31 prior to the season they register for, to be eligible to play. Score reporting or reporting of team records is neither appropriate nor supported for this program. The program goals are; 1. Introduction to soccer rules/game 2. Ball control basics 3. Shooting basics The FIFA laws of the game, with the following exceptions,shall govern the Under 6 age group along with the recommendations as suggested by the USYSA parent & coach primer. FIELDField dimensions are 50 yards by 35 yards maximum,with a goal area but no penalty area. BALLSize 3 PLAYERS 3 players on the field with no goalkeeper All players are to play a minimum of one-half of every game All players are to have game experience in all positions All players not in the game are to remain outside the touchline (sideline) PLAYERS EQUIPMENT Shin guards are mandatory, no jewelry or hooded clothing, pants or socks must cover hard plastic faced shin guards. DURATION OF SCRIMMAGE Following the instructional period,a scrimmage consisting of no more than 20 minutes of play split into halves. SUBSTITUTIONS For injuries, and between halves only OFFSIDES No offsides FOULS & MISCONDUCT All fouls result in an indirect kick. Coach / Referee is to explain all infractions to the players. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and fans. FREE KICKS All kicks are to be indirect.No penalty kicks
